So how do you make Kombucha?

I find Freshly Fermented to be a great source of SCOBY to get you started. These SCOBY almost look like alien life forms.

You will also need a large glass jar (I’m a big fan of the kilner range), sugar, tea, and filtered water. Once you have all the items, you then have to make the booch. First, you need to make a sweet tea mixture by boiling the filtered water and adding the tea and sugar. Then, you add the SCOBY and starter tea to the mixture and let it sit for 7-14 days. During this time, the SCOBY will make the tea go through a fermentation process and create the fermented tea. Finally, you can bottle the kombucha and add flavoring like fruits or herbs. After bottling, you can let it sit for another 5-7 days to create a fizzy, flavorful drink. And that’s it! Now you can enjoy your homemade kombucha.
